If you are willing to twin share but are a smoker, have a CPAP machine or snore, you will need to pay the single supplement for a sole use room.

MELBOURNE TO CAIRNS
Welcome to our adventure to Cape York. With chauffeured pickup from home, we travel to Melbourne Airport. Here we’ll be greeted by an O’Shannessy’s Quality Tours representative who will assist us with check in and see us onto the plane for our flight to Cairns. On arrival, we’ll meet our Tour Directors and take a short drive into the city to our accommodation situated just one block from the Cairns Esplanade. Free time this afternoon to relax, walk along the Esplanade and unwind before meeting for our first dinner together.

OVERNIGHT: Novotel Cairns Oasis Resort, CAIRNS
DAINTREE, THE BLOOMFIELD TRACK, COOKTOWN
After an early breakfast, we are collected by our 4WD vehicle to start our Cape York adventure. We travel north along the scenic Captain Cook Highway, through the World Heritage listed Daintree Rainforest and Cape Tribulation, where the rainforest meets the reef. Then we make our way along the jungle shrouded Bloomfield Track (road conditions permitted), stopping off at the unique Lion’s Den Hotel, and the mysterious Black Mountain, arriving at the old gold port of Cooktown, where we visit Captain Cooks Landing, before settling into our accommodation.

LAKEFIELD NATIONAL PARK, MUSGRAVE
Today, we head west into the outback to explore Lakefield National Park (road conditions permitting), a haven for the many birds and animals native to this area. Lagoons, billabongs and wide river lakes are home to both fresh and saltwater crocodiles. The afternoon finds us arriving at our overnight accommodation at The Old Musgrave Telegraph Station.

COEN, ARCHER RIVER, WEIPA
This morning, we continue north stopping off at the historic frontier gold town of Coen and the picturesque Archer River, before making our way to the bauxite-mining town of Weipa. Enjoy the spectacular sunset over the Gulf of Carpentaria.
OVERNIGHT: Heritage Motel, WEIPA
WENLOCK RIVER, BRAMWELL STATION
This morning we enjoy a Wildlife Eco River Cruise exploring the eco systems and local culture of Weipa. Cruise the harbour, the Embley River to Hay Point and learn about the local culture, history and view the abundance of wildlife this area has to offer. This afternoon, we head for our overnight accommodation at a true blue Aussie cattle station.

FRUIT BAT FALLS—CAPE YORK
After an early start, we head north travelling along part of the Old Telegraph Track to arrive at Fruit Bat Falls for lunch. Relax, swim, and enjoy this unique area with its enchanting waterfall. Then northwards across the Jardine River, to arrive at Cape York! We will be staying at Seisia which is ideally located, being in walking distance from the Seisia Wharf, the departure point for the ferry to Thursday Island and a famous fishing spot. Our accommodation is in cottages at the Seisia Holiday Park.

TOP OF AUSTRALIA—CAPE YORK, SOMERSET
We have an unforgettable day ahead! Stand at the very top of mainland Australia – you need to be reasonably fit and have your walking shoes on for this. If you prefer, you can sit on the beach and enjoy the view. We then visit Somerset (road conditions permitting), once the home of the legendary Jardine family. We have lunch on palm fringed Anchorage Beach which overlooks the Albany Passage. A walk on the beach completes our day before returning to Seisia.
OVERNIGHT: Seisia Holiday Park, SEISIA
THURSDAY ISLAND, HORN ISLAND
An early morning departure as we cruise through island studded straits to explore our northern community, Thursday Island. Here you will be taken on an informative guided bus tour of Thursday Island and its picturesque harbour, once home to the romantic pearl lugger fleet. Later this morning, we take the local water taxi to Horn Island and our accommodation at the Gateway Torres Strait Resort. After checking in to our accommodation and having lunch, our local guide will show us the highlights of Horn Island, including the Heritage Museum.

HORN ISLAND TO CAIRNS
Today we leave the “Top of Australia” and return to Cairns from the Horn Island Airport. On arrival in Cairns, we will be transferred back to the Novotel Cairns Oasis Resort. This afternoon is free to enjoy their pool, take a walk into the city, or relax at the Cairns lagoon on the Esplanade.

CAIRNS—FREE DAY
A free day today to relax! Our hotel is right in the city and close to the beautiful Cairns Esplanade where there are plenty of scenic walking tracks and shops to do your last minute shopping. Or, you may like to pre-book a day trip up to the cute township of Kuranda via the famous Skyrail and return on the Scenic Railway (additional cost). Or, you can catch the local bus to the Cairns Botanic Gardens to enjoy the tropical plants grown up in the tropics.

Today, we fly home from Cairns. We are sure you will have many stories to tell of your Cape York Adventure to the Top of Australia. Upon our arrival at Melbourne Airport, our chauffeurs will be waiting to transport us home—all part of O’Shannessy’s Quality Tours superior service.

We will be travelling in a purpose built Isuzu off road 4WD tour vehicle with air conditioning, comfortable forward facing reclining seats, footrests, retractable seatbelts, panoramic windows, road cam and on-board toilet. There is a PA System, Satellite portable phone and contact with Royal Flying Doctor Service for our safety and peace of mind.

Accommodation
Our overnight accommodation quite often reflects the unique nature of the sparsely inhabited regions in which we will be travelling. The accommodation is varied, with most places having ensuite bathrooms. This tour is limited to a maximum of 14 rooms at each overnight stop, consisting of the following:

A reasonable level of fitness is required to board and alight the 4WD vehicle. There will be a number of walks included in the tour.
